'Time-Out' Cottages at Royal Westmoreland

Family living can sometimes become a little overwhelming. Royal Westmoreland offers a solution for extended families with a stand-alone two bed cottage that can be built when purchasing a family sized villa.

The cottages provide the perfect place to take ‘time out’ if it all gets too noisy. Initially designed for children’s nannies, the cottages have been a popular choice for grandparents and children old or young who want to be with their family, but need that little extra independence.

The cottages are 600 sq ft plus in size and can be purpose-built, with one or two bedrooms and options for a separate kitchen and lounge area. The two rooms can have a shared bathroom or private en suite facilities and are typically designed in colonial style including sash windows, pickled pine internal finishes, coral render and cedar roof tiles. The high-spec design includes air-conditioning, contemporary feature bathrooms and kitchens and state of the art appliances.

A private covered terrace and secluded garden can be added and the location can be anywhere in the grounds of the villa. A popular place is beside a pool deck or in a private corner of a garden away from the main house. And, on a practical note, the cottage could also provide an independent rental stream.

Buyers can add the cottage when commissioning a standalone bespoke home. The price of a four bedroom custom built home at Jasmine Ridge, including a cottage, starts at US$3.3 million (£2.125 million).
