The advantages of Golf Course living

With the Ryder Cup, the biennial Europe v US competition, at Gleneagles fresh in our minds we look at the effects of such tournaments on the golfing fraternity and what a home on a golf course offers non-golfers.

Our Director of Golf Roger Beale, a former member of the Canadian Tour has also noticed the effect of big tournaments on our members. Roger tells me big events definitely help make golfers keener. It creates a buzz around the club and it helps people embrace the game.

But what are the advantages of buying a home on a golf course? One of the biggest advantages is the fact that the view from your home and space around the course naturally has more green space, is protected from further building and is perfectly maintained. This is an important factor as often a home owner is powerless to prevent a building going up on an adjacent plot of land owned by someone else, or to upkeep surrounding land.

Interestingly 70% of the people that buy at Royal Westmoreland aren¹t actually golfers, but they buy because of the space, the landscaping, the security of a gated resort and the other facilities on offer. A home in a golf resort offers a multi-generation lifestyle and is also great if you appreciate nature as the foliage attracts a lot of wildlife, which enjoy the fruit and berries from the well irrigated trees. On our course you regularly see an array of tropical birds and even green monkeys.

And golfing doesn¹t get much better than Royal Westmorland¹s world-class championship golf course – a 7045 yard par 72 course of unrivalled beauty, with views of the Caribbean Sea from every hole. The estate is marketing a variety of homes from apartments to custom built villas on larger plots with prices starting from just US $395,000.
