5 Memorable nights out in Barbados

There’s new and exciting entertainment to discover every night of the week in Barbados. If you’re looking for an evening’s goings-on you’ll be spoilt for choice, whether you fancy wining and dining or getting your dancing shoes on.

The island’s most exciting sights and sounds are dotted all along the western coastline, and whatever you’re after, and whether you’ve visited a hundred times or it’s your first trip, you’re guaranteed a fun-packed Bajan night out.

Luckily this array of options means you don’t have to go too far to stumble upon something to do.

There are surprises around every corner, but to give you a head start, here’s our quick guide to five places you might want to try when the sun goes down:

Oistins’ Friday Night Fish Fry
Many people who head down to the fishing village of Oistins on a Friday night return time after time – it’s a weekly happening that really epitomises the island’s friendliness and togetherness.

Expect an open-air fish market and plenty of huts with the grilling and frying of all types of fish right in front of your eyes: from swordfish and tuna, to marlin and flying fish – and also be prepared for lots of refreshing and unusual, albeit alcoholic, drinks.

The pop up stalls get very busy, but for good reason: It’s one of the most talked about Bajan nights out, especially with the live music and general hustle and bustle that creates an unrivalled atmosphere.

Note: Food is served from 7pm, but if you arrive earlier you can head down the pier to catch the sunset.

Red Door Lounge
With plenty of ice cold beer, an extensive cocktail list and fantastic ambience on offer, what more could you want?

It’s the perfect place to stop by for a few drinks. The bar is comfortable, modern, stylish and cool, and there’s an undeniable chic that many other bars on the island are missing.

The staff are always friendly, and the music always suits the atmosphere whatever time of day or night you’re there. Thinking about it, Red Door Lounge is pretty much perfect to us, and luckily this much-loved spot – recently visited by Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton – is only a short journey from Royal Westmoreland.

The Old Jamm Inn
Head down to The Old Jamm Inn and you’ll find a fantastic bar with a great atmosphere and a huge reputation. There’s food if you want it, while the fantastic rum punches aren’t too pricey. But be warned, they are on the strong side – as you’d expect if you’ve been on the island for a while.

There’s live music every night, ranging from reggae to acoustic guitars and rock, but the local jazz on a Thursday evening is the real highlight. However be prepared for the Jamm to be a little busier than usual at the weekend.

Located nearby the Red Door Lounge we mentioned above, it’s well worth making a real night of it and taking in both during the space of an evening. Also try sitting on the outside deck as the sun begins to set.

Harbour Lights
Harbour Lights is down on the island’s south coast and is hailed by many locals and tourists alike as one of the best night spots in Barbados.

It’s great for dancing on the golden sands under the palms and stars. The best times to visit Harbour Lights are Fridays and Saturdays when it’s busiest – expect the rhythmical, high energy sounds of calypso and plenty of other exciting performances from fire eaters to acrobatics.

Don’t worry if you head down to Harbour Lights on an empty stomach, as the food is tasty and plentiful, and it’s always served with a smile.

Mullins Beach Bar
Finally, we couldn’t leave our very own Mullins Beach Bar off the list. It’s a great option if you fancy staying local after a day on the golf course or if you’ve made the most of the Indulgence Spa and fancy spending the remainder of the day and night by the beach with a drink in hand. We don’t blame you; you are on holiday after all.

As you’ve probably figured out by now, Barbados certainly isn’t short of superb places to watch the sun go down, but Mullins is as good a place as any. Add to that the wonderful selection of seafood

on the menu and chilled vibes all right next to the calm waters, you might find yourself back here evening after evening.

Mullins is fantastic all day long as it’s right next to the beach. This means the kids can play in the water while you sunbath or relax under a parasol, enjoying refreshment and nibbles off the extensive drinks menu.
